After getting over my gastro, I was set to get back into my routine... I wasn't able to go to the RAH for my fitting, but they do come to the Modbury every Wednesday... My Wednesday came and my leg arrived. But there was a slight problem, due to a mix up, a left foot was on my prosthetic leg, not a right foot... Yes I can say I have walked with 2 left feet HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! That was difficult trying to walk but the next day I went to the RAH to get my leg with the correct foot. Unfortunately I arrived back to late to work in the gym that afternoon but I was ready to go the next morning... I started walking with a frame and after a lap of the gym we checked my stump and there was evidence that things weren't going well... there were signs that I was bottoming out on the leg... In the afternoon we tried again and the signs repeated.. this began the week of selfies of the stump... If this continued, it wouldn't be good news... Luckily, it was suggested to increase the number of socks to wear with the leg and Bingo!!!!
In the space of a day I went from walking with a frame to walking with 2 walking sticks, 1 walking stick and unaided... as long as I use a frame when out of the gym. I stuck to this rule and things were raging ahead... except for finding somewhere to live... I attended a few open houses and found a wheelchair friendly house and put in a rental application. This was approved and discharge was going through the motions... Jai'me, my OT, drove me to the property to sign the lease and approved the property, installed my shower chair and toilet seat raiser and completed the approval of the property being suitable for my condition... spent my first night there and the following morning, removalists brought the majority of my furniture... I had an appointment at the RAH after the furniture arrived and I really need to take my hat off to my best mate, Jordan, who came while I was out and set up most of the house for me... That has been a real frustration for me, not being able to go ahead and move furniture where I want it. I definitely started to feel some limitations...
